Privacy impact assessment register
The Tax Ombudsman undertakes privacy impact assessments for all high privacy risk projects. A project may be considered a ‘high privacy risk project’ if the Tax Ombudsman reasonably considers that:
“…the project involves any new or changed ways of handling personal information that are likely to have a significant impact on the privacy of individuals.”
The Australian Government Agencies Privacy Code requires the Tax Ombudsman to maintain a register of privacy impact assessments conducted since 1 July 2018. A version of our register is provided below:

Brief description. The project was undertaken to implement a new Customer Management System for enhanced document management and reporting purposes.

Name of project. ICT Migration project.
Brief description. The project was undertaken to relocate the IGTO’s IT Infrastructure away from the Department of Treasury’s hosting platform.
